The Shaming of the Strong
Availability: Our Price: £5.99
When a routine scan during Sarah William's longed-for third pregnancy reveals a child unable to survive birth, she and her husband begin the painful journey of discovering the depths of a parent's love. Relating her experiences with honesty and candour, she draws us with her as she makes the excruciatingly difficult decision to bring her baby to term, helps her young daughters deal with their own sense of loss and bewilderment and finds mountains of support from family and friends.
The depth of God's involvement, the courage and patience of Sarah herself and the strength and compassion of her husband and family are breathtaking. The fresh discoveries of God's love for all and what it truly means to be human turn the ideas of our modern world upside-down. This is a wonderful book, one that I found hard to put down, yet which was at times so moving that it became almost too much to read. Its painful beauty will haunt your thoughts long after you have finished reading it.

Customer Reviews
A journey I have just finished reading this painful recount of Sarah and her family‘s journey through the death of their daughter Cerian. I have two daughters and a little boy, Ben who has gone to be with our Creator like Cerian. Ben would be 3 months old today. This book has helped me make sense of my pain, anger and the empty feeling of my grief and has also given me a glimpse of what my young daughters are going through. I know I am not alone. The Shaming of the Strong has made me realise that it is through my pain and weakness that Gods love and strength and comfort is amplified. Sarah and Paul, you are brave and blessed people. Thank you for blessing me with your journey. I hope Cerian and Ben are dancing in heaven together.
